Nurse arrested for abusing elderly woman in care home: Shocking incident revealed

Police have arrested a 27-year-old assistant nurse over allegations of assaulting a 79-year-old resident at an aged care centre in Maclean. Police stated that the Maclean aged care sexual assault occurred between November 2023 and February 2024. The accused, who brutally abused the elderly woman suffering from memory loss, was apprehended by police in Grafton.

Extreme Cruelty Targeting an Elderly Resident

Officers from the Coffs/Clarence Police District received the initial complaint regarding this incident in June 2026. Following this, an investigative team launched a detailed inquiry. After months of evidence gathering, police arrested the accused at Grafton Police Station at around 9:00 am on Monday (July 13, 2026). This incident has sparked significant discussions regarding security lapses in aged care homes.

Serious Charges Laid Against the Accused

Serious criminal charges, including the sexual assault of an elderly woman suffering from memory loss, have been laid against the 27-year-old. Following the arrest, the accused was presented in court and refused bail. He is next scheduled to appear before the Grafton Local Court on September 7, 2026. Demands for stricter background checks for aged care staff are intensifying. Meanwhile, police have not released any further information about the accused.
