Conflict Enters Second Week: Israel Launches Heavy Attacks Today; Iran Says ‘No Surrender’
The Iran-Israel-US conflict, which has turned the Middle East into a war zone, has intensified and entered its second week. Following the joint US-Israeli attacks that began with the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28, large-scale conflict persists across the region. The heavy airstrikes targeting the Tehran airport and the attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz have created a massive global crisis.
Heavy Israeli Airstrikes on Tehran:
Early this morning, over 80 fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force (including F-35s and F-15s) launched widespread attacks on the Iranian capital, Tehran. The main targets were the Mehrabad International Airport, the IRGC Imam Hossein Military University, missile storage facilities, and underground command centres. Footage has emerged showing massive plumes of fire and smoke rising from the airport. US Central Command stated that more than 3,000 Iranian military and administrative centres have been attacked over the past week.
Pezeshkian Says ‘No Surrender’:
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian gave a strong reply to US President Donald Trump’s statement that only Iran’s unconditional surrender would end the war. “Let the enemies take their desire for the Iranian people to surrender to their graves,” he declared on national television. He added that Gulf nations that do not provide bases for the Israeli-American military will not be attacked.

Attack on Oil Tanker in the Strait of Hormuz:
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard carried out a drone attack on a Malta-flagged oil tanker named ‘Prima’ in the Strait of Hormuz, the world’s major oil trade route. The IRGC stated that the attack was carried out because the ship travelled through the strait ignoring security warnings. Fears of disrupted oil supplies have caused crude oil prices to skyrocket in the global market.
War Spreading to the Gulf Region:
Iran has continuously launched ballistic missiles targeting cities in Israel, such as Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. In addition, there were attacks on Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait. The Saudi defence forces intercepted and destroyed 16 drones and missiles targeting the strategic Shaybah oil field in Saudi Arabia. Following the security threat, Dubai Airport was temporarily closed, and Emirates flight services were suspended.
Humanitarian and Economic Repercussions:
As the war escalates, a massive humanitarian crisis has emerged in Iran and Lebanon. According to information provided by the Iranian representative to the United Nations, more than 1,300 civilians have been killed in Iran alone so far. Thousands of people have been injured, and there has been a mass exodus of the population.
French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that he will not support the US-Israeli military moves and that this will completely destroy the peace of the region. The European Union has already begun operations to urgently repatriate its citizens from these countries. If the Strait of Hormuz is completely closed off, it will be a massive blow to the global economy.
